Young Women Theme

“In a morally desensitizing world, young women need women and men to ‘stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places.’ Never before has this been more important than now. Young women need mothers and mentors who exemplify virtuous womanhood. Mothers, your relationship with your daughter is of paramount importance, and so is your example. How you love and honor her father, his priesthood, and his divine role will be reflected and perhaps amplified in your daughter’s attitudes and behavior.”

“And I said, ‘Mosiah 18:9: ‘Stand as [a witness] of God at all times and in all things, and in all places.’ ‘ In an extremely challenging world, that is what I see young women and women of this Church doing. They are an influence for good. They are virtuous and exemplary, intelligent and industrious. They are making a difference because they are different. They are acting well their part.”

“This is a magnificent time to be on the earth and to be a young woman. Our vision remains the same. It is to be worthy to make and keep sacred covenants and receive the ordinances of the temple.”

“You young women too can stand as a witness of God by nurturing a spirit of faith, love, peace, and testimony in your homes now, preparing you to do the same when you establish your own future homes. I am the product of a righteous young woman who stood ‘steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works.’ ”

“I can see a day when the world will look to you and say: ‘Who are you? Who are these young women who radiate this light? Why are you so happy? Why do you know your direction in such a confusing world?’ And you will arise and stand on your feet and say with conviction: ‘We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us, and we love Him. We will ‘stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places.’ ‘ ”

“Young sisters, you can make it. Heavenly Father wants you to. Your faith and courage and determination will bring you to ‘the mountain of the Lord’s house’—the holy temple—as you prepare to ‘make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation’. Your steps of faith will bless future generations. Through you, your children and your grandchildren will receive the blessings the Lord has promised those who follow Him. If only you could see those whom you will influence—not just your friends, but your children and their children!”

“My young sisters, do you know that you are daughters of God? If each one of you could only have a sure knowledge of this for yourself, you would have a sweet peace in your heart and confidence to meet any challenges that life may bring.”

“Every Sunday throughout the world young women stand together and repeat the Young Women Theme. You say, ‘We are daughters of our Heavenly Father who loves us.’ That theme has become part of the creed of my life. I personalize it and say, ‘I, Elaine Jack; am a daughter of my Heavenly Father who loves me, and I love him.’ When I listen to you say it, I recall my feelings at your age. Sometimes I still feel that way. Even though I’m a grandmother, I need assurance that I am somebody. We all need to be reminded that we are daughters of a Heavenly Father.

“That eternal truth is so important.”
